Alan Haras |
In 2005, Alan Haras received certification to teach the Jivamukti Yoga method from Sharon Gannon and David Life. Since then, he has been a devoted student of Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Janaki. He holds a B.A. from Michigan State University in Religious Studies, where he studied closely with Vedanta scholar Dr. John Grimes. He has spent time in North India with Vedic scholar, translator, and musician Shyamdas studying bhakti yoga and Vedanta philosophy. He was given the name “Bhakta Das” which means “one who serves the lovers of God.” He is currently enrolled in a 2-year Internship in Ignatian Spirituality at Manresa Jesuit Retreat House.

Kathy Shagena |
Shri Ganga (Kathy Shagena) has been a devoted practitioner of yoga since the early days of Jivamukti Yoga Detroit. She has spent the last 3 years absorbing the philosophy of the Hatha Yoga Prasdipika and Yoga Sutras, while deepening her love and understanding of the Sanskrit language. She has been extremely fortunate to receive yoga teacher training and close mentorship from Janaki, the director of Hamsa Yoga. She has also been blessed to receive mantra initiation from Baba Bhagavan Das. Shri Ganga's classes are like the holy river Ganga Herself; powerful, graceful, and purifying.

Barbara Wolf |
Barbara Wolf, PhD. has been studying and learning from spiritual disciplines, including yoga, for the past 37 years. She is a Clinical Health Psychologist and is the Director of Behavioral Medicine Education at McLaren Regional Medical Center. An associate professor in the departments of Family Medicine and Psychiatry in the Colleges of Human and Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University, she teaches medical students and family medicine resident physicians as well as post doctoral clinical health psychology fellows. She has always been interested in the interplay between health, illness and the mindbody. She is currently the principal investigators of two studies, one utilizing yoga and meditation for chronic pain and diabetic patients, and the other, a study of medical students undergoing a ‘mindful medicine’ curriculum. In addition to teaching at Hamsa, she teaches yoga for staff at McLaren Regional Medical Center in their newly developed Wellness Center.

Denise Michalak |

Aaron Kyle |
Aaron Kyle (also known as AK) is a Certified Hamsa Yoga Teacher, who has been extremely fortunate to mentor with Janaki, and study Yoga philosophy with Bhakta Das. In 2010, AK spent time growing and distributing food to the Pontiac community as a member of the HAVEN Garden Project. As a Climbing Instructor at Planet Rock in Pontiac, he is continually discovering parallel insights between yoga, climbing, and life. AK brings to his classes a comprehensive understanding of the teachings, an open heart, and a refreshing sense of "real-ness."

Cameo Rogers |
Cameo Rogers is a Certified Hamsa Yoga Teacher, who completed her 6-month intensive training in 2009 with Janaki & Bhakta Das. Since then, she has lived, surfed, and taught yoga at various yoga centers in Hawaii. Cameo plans on continuing her studies by attending Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training in Costa Rica in the Summer of 2012.

Mary Jepko |
Mary is a lifelong seeker of truth, Who's entry into yoga began in 1998 with the pregnancy of her first child. A devoted mother of two, she completed the Hamsa Yoga 200-hour Teacher Training in 2009 and continues to study under the guidance of Bhakta Das. She gets her inspiration from Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati. In keeping with the "goal" of yoga (enlightenment), her classes are nuturing, energetic and challenging, tempered with compassion under the watchful eye of a mother.
