“The aim of Yoga is to realize that we are all connected. We share one heart, one consciousness, and one Divine Source. Yoga's method is to provide us with experiences that help us grasp this.”

About Hamsa Yoga

The Sanskrit word hamsa means "swan." For many cultures and traditions, the swan is considered a symbol of grace, beauty, and elegance. In Indian mythology, the goddess of learning, Sarasvati, is said to ride on a swan. In the same way that the swan is a vehicle for the goddess of Wisdom, HAMSA YOGA is a vehicle through which something bigger expresses itself – a deep sense of community, and an unspoken recognition of the divine presence in one another.

The practices of Yoga allow us the opportunity to heal the “disease of disconnect” - the feeling of being alienated or separated from our true Self, our neighbors, and Nature. It gives us an opportunity to discover a sense of ease and connection to all. As we rediscover this physcial and mental well-being within ourselves, we spontaneously begin move through life with more grace, uplifting not only our own life, but the lives of all who we come in contact with.

The great teacher Sri Ramakrishna once said to his disciples, “The winds of Grace are always blowing - but is your sail up?” Yoga is one of the time-tested methods to raise the sail of our heart, and open up to that unseen intelligence which guides our life. The techniques and teachings of yoga emphasize harmonizing with this sacred current of Life. This humble process ultimately leads to the blissful discovery our true identity - as part and parcel of the Supreme Self.
